Seven Weeks Ago, I Quit Drinking.

August 23, 2026 · 1 min read

I have more in common with Brad Pitt than our looks. 😳

Twelve days ago he told Esquire he’d been sober seven years — then went back off the wagon.

Seven weeks ago, I quit drinking.

My grandfather was an entrepreneur. He also drank. He quit at forty and it held for the rest of his life.

One man quit and it held. One man held seven years and decided he’d rather not. I’m at seven weeks and I don’t know which of them I am.

I’m also not going to stand here and tell you this is forever. I don’t know that.

What I know is that right now, not drinking is better than drinking was. That’s the whole claim.

I’m not writing from the other side of this. I’m writing from inside it, which is the only honest place I have.

Not asking for anything.

I just know the number of founders quietly counting their own weeks is higher than any of us admit.

It counts. Even week one.
