Many Businesses Buy Insurance Once.

September 24, 2026 · 1 min read

Many businesses buy insurance once.

I have watched that from both sides of the table. As a licensed producer and as an insured buying the coverage.

The policy gets written in year one, when the company is small and the risks are simple. Then the business grows. A product line. A second location. Fifteen more people. A truck on the road. The business changes and the coverage does not.

Nobody catches it in a renewal meeting. It surfaces on the one day it matters.

Joe Stroot and Arturo Sordo went on the Firing the Man podcast with David Schomer to talk about exactly that. Not to pitch anything. To help a room of operators understand what they are actually carrying.

One example they walked through: business interruption limits. They get set once, off a worksheet, and then the business grows past them. The gap does not show up until you file.

That is the work. Not products. Judgment offered before anyone asks for it.

Nobody thanks you for the claim that never happened.
