Brave Was Never Supposed to Be Armor.

October 24, 2026 · 1 min read

Virtually no funding. No team. No guarantee. Dustin Hejna still built a full family platform: five characters, original music, guided lessons, and a memory vault.

Dustin found Friendever when it was just an early idea around lifelong wellness and memory preservation. Most people would have moved on. Dustin started building.

With remarkable vision, perseverance, and patience, he turned that idea into what Friendever is today. And there’s a lot more story to tell.

Here’s the question at the heart of it: Why do we spend our whole lives trying to understand our emotions when so few of us were ever taught how?

Most of us learned “brave” as don’t flinch, don’t show it, don’t talk about it. That isn’t bravery. It’s armor. And armor gets heavy.

Friendever teaches kids something different, while they’re still forming the habits they’ll carry for life. Five friends guide the way. Buddy Bueno helps them notice what they’re feeling. Grateful Gabby helps them see the good in today. Playful Hunter gets them moving their energy. Brave Bailey reminds them they can do hard things. Mindful Megan helps them find calm. And their parents learn right alongside them.

Get to know the Friendever Five. They'll be around for a long time, growing up with our kids and, one day, with theirs.

One parent’s App Store review put it simply: “This is needed.” It helps parents and kids “learn how to navigate difficult emotional challenges and help raise kids to be emotionally strong.”

A child who learns this language early grows up to be a parent who already speaks it. That’s what generational means to me.

Dustin, thank you for believing in it, carrying it, and never letting it go.

Proud of what you're building.
