The Clock Isn't the Problem. The Autopilot Is.

October 12, 2026 · 1 min read

We're not going to live forever.

We all know it. Yet we behave like we will.

We spend time like there's more of it in a drawer somewhere.

We put things in our bodies we wouldn't put in our cars.

We say things we assume we'll get to take back.

We think thoughts we'd never say out loud, then let them run the day anyway.

None of that is a plan. It's a default.

The fix probably isn't dramatic. It's the people who know you well enough to give you a hard time. The ones who'd tell you to your face that you're on autopilot.

Steven Jordan is one of mine. He doesn't wait to be asked.

Keep those people close. Take their calls. Take their jokes.

The clock isn't the problem.

The autopilot is.
